DMR Training & Consultancy Ltd & Leigh East A.R.L.F.C. Partnership

Leigh East are delighted to announce an official partnership with DMR Training & Consultancy Ltd.

Aims & Objectives of the partnership

·     Provide routes into the Construction Industry for individuals considering a career in the industry (Leigh East young people).

·     Support companies and individuals involved in the industry, and connected with Leigh East, adding value to their sponsorship and association with Leigh East.

·    Help companies in understanding the benefits of providing opportunities for young people and the financial support available to make this possible.

·         Encourage all involved with the partnership to support our young people in their careers ‘off the field’.

·         Provide new sponsorship and revenue for the club.

Within the local area DMR offers Apprenticeships, Traineeships and Training in Construction. Traineeships are a flexible ‘work trial’ type programme which individuals between the ages of 16-24 are placed on a work placement with a company for a time period of between 6 weeks – 6 months. Trainees attend DMR one day per week to work on construction related training, functional skills and also CSCS health and safety qualifications. DMR can provide funding for the courses but rely on construction employers to provide work placements. Trainees are paid expenses for attending the work placement and DMR, however it is at the employers’ discretion what they pay (generally most pay no more than £10 per day). Should trainees be successful in that the employer decides to progress them onto an apprenticeship or even just a regular job this is a successful outcome. Should individuals not meet the requirements of the employer or DMR then they will be released from the course. There are no obligations or contractual agreements in taking on a Trainee; these are purely work placements that can be terminated at any time.

Should an employer decide that they would like to offer the individual an apprenticeship DMR can provide the support required to enable construction companies to access up to £8,500 per individual in grants. Apprenticeships with DMR are carried out on a day/block release basis where apprentices attend the construction academy in Leigh alongside their regular place of work within company. They do not need to travel out of town to Wigan/Bolton/Salford and surrounding areas.

As DMR access funding for local growth these types of partnerships only assist them in meeting their business needs making it mutually beneficial. With this in mind with Leigh East backing they can continue to secure funding with a steady flow of new applicants from the club. DMR is committed to provide financial support to Leigh East by way of sponsorship, the more successful this partnership is the more funds we have available to grow the sponsorship and in turn the club and individuals’ careers. DMR will also send representatives to Leigh East functions and other fundraising events to further support the club financially and raise the profile of the partnership. Leigh East as a club will only need to do what we do best as an amateur RL club - continue to support our young people and local community.

Commitment

·       Both parties to educate youngsters within the club with realistic careers advice and guidance.

·       Leigh East provide opportunities for DMR recruitment.

·       Leigh East to provide ‘ambassadors’ from within the club to promote the construction industry and careers

a    dvice in general.

·         DMR to promote Leigh East culture and values which will be embedded in all courses.

·         DMR and Leigh East will collaborate with promotional activity, literature, social media campaigns.

·         DMR commit to sponsorship of the club in various ways.

·         This will be a partnership which will evolve and marketing opportunities to a wider audience will be reviewed on an on-going basis.

The very nature of this partnership is creating opportunities for all parties involved to address corporate responsibility requirements that are ever evolving. This can be beneficial to all involved and provide an ‘organic growth’ mechanism that will benefit all, not just for the short term but long term also. Aside from the opportunities for young people DMR can provide advice for all associated in construction on education and training.

Speaking about the Partnership Dave Radley, DMR Managing Director said:

“DMR is extremely excited by this formal agreement and it has been long-awaited. As a company we operate nationwide and have delivered hundreds of qualifications to the construction industry. We feel we are very well placed to provide advice and guidance on the opportunities out there.

We have a team here at DMR that is passionate about the development of the industry and the growing need to educate our youngsters on the opportunities available to them in construction. It is no secret that there is a severe skills shortage within the sector and it is crucial that those gaps are filled as soon as possible. There has never been a better time to get involved in the construction industry and DMR has the right people and mechanisms here to provide a clear pathway for committed individuals.

We currently have several apprenticeship and traineeship vacancies that we would like to start offering to Leigh East people with the right attitude. With learned skills and behaviours derived from the Leigh East culture, we believe that there are individuals within the club who meet the criteria. Personally, I have lived and breathed that culture for many years. It served me well not only in my rugby and work career, but also in my life in general.

With ourselves and Leigh East pushing in the same direction we feel that we can steer our youngsters along the right path. We believe that individuals involved in the club are already on that path having learned many valuable life skills including respect, timekeeping and working with others, to mention a few. With this in mind it only bodes well for us working with them to provide a route for their futures”.

Commenting on the partnership, one behalf of Leigh East Andy Mazey said:

“When looking at new initiatives and agreeing new partnerships, we are always very focused that we work with organisations that have shared common values and DMR are a perfect fit. The Directors, staff and entire team have shown us great support while working together to develop this partnership, and are very driven in helping us meet our core objectives of creating opportunities and pathways for our young people.

Talks with DMR have been ongoing for quite some time now so to finally formalise this support into a long term partnership is fantastic for both parties. I must say a big thank you to Dave Radley and his team for their support”.

David Coyle, Rugby Chairman added:

“We would like to thank DMR for their support and for their willingness to work with the young people of Leigh East. Our hope is that this partnership will bring further benefits and opportunities from being associated with our great club to people who would not otherwise have that chance. We live in a very unequal society and this arrangement is one small step in the breaking down of barriers that result in lack of opportunity for so many people.”
