Leigh East welcomed Cumbrian table-toppers Millom to Ledgard Avenue on a glorious Summers Day.

It was East who came out victorious, ending Millom's unbeaten run and closing the gap at the top of the table.

East started like a house on fire when Jacob Sinclair went in after only 5 minutes, with a well worked play from the base of the scrum, with Adam Holland converting.

IM1After set after set completed by both teams it was the Millom defence that broke first and let East in for another try from Sinclair with a short-side play, again Holland converted.

Millom grabbed one back on 27 minutes through Lee Postlewaite, Jonny Hodgson converted but right on half time Owen Myers went over to bring the game back to within 2 points at the break.

It was the Cumbrians who struck first in the 2nd half through Warwick Carter who scored his customary try on 58 minutes and with Jonny Hodgsons conversion they hit the front. IM2

On 65 minutes Alan Lantry went over to put East back in front after a cheeky grubber from Roden, Holland Converted. Millom, as you would expect, came back at the hosts when Chris Warren took his chance and the lead changed hands once again.

East sealed the game within the last 10 minutes when Alan Lantry scored two further tries, one from 40 yards and another from a kick to the in-goal, to take the score to 30-20 with only 7 minutes to go after Hollands conversions.

 IM3

Holland completed the game with a 100% kicking record adding a penalty goal to put the game to bed.

East now have a couple of weeks off to rest up after what was a brutal and honest game before they welcome Blackbrook to Ledgard Avenue.

Opposition Man of the Match was Alan Lantry, whilst the Matchday Sponsors chose Jacob Sinclair.
