Junior Match Reports 

Leigh East U15s 28-8 Folly Lane


Leigh East u15s entertained Folly lane in the 2nd round of the NWC cup and it was East who started the quickest when a Keiran Bellamy bomb was dropped by the Folly lane fullback And Matty Rudd scooped up to score under the sticks, Matty Rudd added the extras.


East started to get into an ominous rhythm with Archie Fleming and Jack Wild causing the folly defence all sorts of problems. A great final pass saw Josh Southern back himself to score in the corner for East to lead 10 nil. Richard Farrington finished off the hard work from Jack Wild and Callum Hargreaves who combined with some superb offloads for East to lead 16 nil, Jordan Mckay scoring next with a jinking run to take east out 20 nil, folly pulling one back on the stroke of half time HT score 20-4,The 2nd half saw defences tighten up and a well taken try by Sam Oliver took east out to a 24 4 lead. Folly scored next from a short kick however Jordan Mckay topped off a superb individual game with his 2nd try of the game. East closed out the game 28-8 to progress to the next round.

Leigh East U13s 28 - 16 Rochdale Mayfield


East started the game in high tempo and immediately put pressure on the Mayfield line. Great interplay from the pivots forced a long ball out to the wing allowing Allan Hartley to score his first of the day.


The game restarted and Mayfield pushed back to bring the score to 6 - 4. East looked to respond quickley, good attacking play and hard running from the forwards gained field position. A pin point kick from Taylor Pemberton was backed well from the team which forced a drop out and the repeat set.  The ball was returned at pace by Zak Bowdler gaining great yards. Allan Hartley then scooted and broke the line going under the sticks to score.


Momentum now in East's favour the team started to move fluidly as a unit. Great play from the pivots saw the team exploiting gaps all over the park. Adam Jones and Jordan Fishwick capitalised on the pressure as both went over to score leaving it 22 - 4 at HT.


The second half started and this time it was East who was put onto the back foot as Mayfield ran in 2 unanswered tries. East soaked up the pressure and held their nerve. Taylor Pemberton moved the team forward with a weaving run from scrum half. At point of tackle he managed to off load the ball and the backs kept the ball alive. Fantastic passing in between the pivot saw Adam Jones go over to bring the game to a close. All in all a much stronger performance with all team members contributing to the win.

Leigh East U10s 8-8 Rylands


Leigh East under 10s hosted Rylands in a game where East made a couple of handling errors early in the game. Despite turning the ball over at the wrong end of the pitch the East defence held strong to keep the score to 4-8 at half time Chayse Quigley scoring for East. Again in the second half East where strong in defence and a good team spirit could be felt throughout the game which lead to Josh Hopkins scoring the equaliser

Leigh East East U9s 5-1 Halton Hornets


A confident performance from the U9s, good defence and exciting attack which lead to a great win. Tries B Allred 2, F Jackson 1 and J Lee with 2. Parents man of the match was M Q Campbell.

Halton Hornets reds 4 - 10 Leigh East U8s


East U8s travelled to Halton to take on the HFH reds who hadn't lost at home in 2 years, but that record was ended by a brilliant Leigh East performance. From the first minute to the last the East team was on fire, some brilliant ball movement, excellent strong running and tough team defence was the recipe for success. Try scorers were Ewan Irwin, Bradley Mcdonough, Harvey Halliwell, Lee Kiss, Rory Dearnaley and Kian Dockerty who also won best attack, Ewan Irwin won best defence, Coby Robinson got the coaches award and Lee Kiss won the fans award.

Leigh East U8s 12 - 13 Bank Quay u8s


East u8s hosted the Bank Quay Bulls for a Thursday night game, East started the game strongly with good running and some tough tackling, during the game there were numerous lead changes but despite a brilliant effort from East they fell just short losing by 1 try. Try scorers were Harvey worden, Ben Cohen, Lucas Fishwick, Evan Buckley Lownsbrough and Clay Davies who also won coaches award, Ben Cohen won best defence, Harvey worden best attack and Evan Buckley Lownsbrough won the fans award.

Blackbrook 16-11 Leigh East U7s Lions


East U7s Lions suffered their first loss of the season against a solid and well drilled Blackbrook Royals team 16-11. Both teams was at each other from the start with some good tries being scored with some offloads and supporting play. East started to tire as the game went on and fell behind in last quarter. Solid performances from Callum Thomason and Harrison Pearson who both gave 110% today. Fans award Callum Thomason, Best tackler Harrison Pearson, Man of match Callum Thomason, Man of match Harrison Pearson.

Leigh East U7s Bears 11-4 Wigan St Pats


East U7s Bears beat Wigan St Pats 11-4 with a good team performance again some good off loads creating brilliant try's away team man of match was Tyree Gregson, Ellis West got most improved, top tackler was Broden Newsham, coaches man of match was Connor Robb with 2 brilliant try's and some good defence! Other try scorers were Dylan White, Ellis Anderson, Levi Pemberton, Broden Newsham, Riley Gregson got 2 try's Ewan Gregson Riley Johnson and Steven Charnley.
