John Woods Statue John Woods Statue

Leigh East backing John Woods Statue.

Leigh East are proud to be part of a fantastic rugby league community in which we operate and proud supporters of current and past players of the towns professional club Leigh Centurions.

We would like to urge anyone in a position to do so to support the efforts of Leigh Past Players Association to raise around £30k to get a statue of John Woods on the site at LSV. The council and the LSV are behind it and as John is 60 next September so it would be a great way of celebrating his achievements at Leigh - and his other clubs.

In an effort to raise funds a keen cyclist has come up with the idea of visiting each club John played for. (good job he turned Hull down!) With that in mind, the plan is to leave LSV at 6am on Saturday 26th September and head to the Halliwell Jones.

From there it is off to Bradford via Irlam, Agecroft, Oldham, Saddleworth etc, hoping to arrive at Bradford around 12.00pm.

After lunch, the group will head through Halifax, Todmorden to Spotland, before carrying on the journey to Leigh via Bury & Bolton!

Memebers of the Leigh Past Players Association shall be doing the ride and they have the support of everyone at Leigh East ARLFC.

There is a facebook page - John Woods Statue.
