East East "A" back to winning ways in NWML

Match Report by Dave Rudd.

Leigh East "A" were looking to get back to winning ways as they welcomed Chorley Panthers to Ledgard Avenue.

The big Chorley panthers outfit were the most enthusiastic from the start as they made the most of an East error from the Kick off to open the scoring.

Further lapses in concentration allowed Chorley to extend that lead to 12-nil.

Finally East awoke and some excellent attack saw Keegan latch onto a perfect pass from 20 metres out to score under the posts, Noon adding the extras.

East continued to apply the pressure which finally saw the Chorley defence crack and winger Parkinson went over out wide, Noon adding a superb touch line effort to bring the scores level.

The tone for the game was set and it became a tit-for-tat affair with Chorley starting the 2nd half the quickest by racing out to an 18-12 lead with a converted try and a penalty goal. East pegged one back with a try from Saf Jama and again Noon adding the extras. To level the scores at 18-all.

East indiscipline again allowed the big Chorley side to score a long range effort and they now led 22–18.

Late into the game, the superior fitness of the East side started to tell and 2 quick tries from Jamie Waters and Parkinson brought the curtain down on a tense, entertaining game.

Final score:

Leigh East 26 Chorley 22.
