Bulldogs over 35’s International Rugby League Squad

Raising funds for prostate cancer

The Bulldogs over 35 representative team have formed a partnership with Prostate Cancer to raise that cancer’s profile and raise much needed funds for the worthy cause.

The Squad in the past was formed under the auspices of BARLA but they  decided last year to no longer support the over 35’s team  because when they tour they play in Veterans Rugby Union tournaments.

Therefore this year’s selection will take place in the form of a trial day at Wigan St Patricks ARLFC on Sunday 31st July 2016 at 12.30

Selection will be made for this years’ trip to the prestigious Dubai ten a side competition after the day. The tournament takes place at the end of Nov to first week December.

Participants on the day will be insured and contrary to previous years the ONLY eligibility criteria is that players are over 35 years of age on the 31st November 2016. You can be amateur, expro, current pro, former RU player we are all inclusive. This is the first step on getting on the plane to represent your country/sport/and worthwhile cause in a trip of a lifetime

Prospective players should register their interest by getting in touch with any of the following by July 24th 2016

Team Manager Martyn Ward on martyn_ward@sky.com any area and for donations and sponsorship or to travel with the team

Sean High     seanhigh@hotmail.uk   - Cumbria west

John Jefferson   johnjefforugby@tiscali.co.uk – Cumbria south

Sean Richardson   sean@absundecks.co.uk  - Lancashire

Allan Samme     allan.samme@lynxenergy.co.uk – Yorkshire

Martyn Ward said “it is a shame that the amateur governing body decided not to sanction this tour which helps showcase the power, athleticism, skills and knowledge of Rugby League which has had a positive effect on the qualities  that our game has to offer, nevertheless it still offers the opportunity for over 35 players to represent Rugby League to a worldwide audience. In addition for the first time it will hopefully raise much needed funds for a charity very much associated with older males and the importance of keeping fit and healthy in later life”
